The so-called academic freedom bill on the Senate side got a committee hearing, but what about the House side? The St. Petersburg Times asked around:
When the House Schools and Learning Council meets this morning, it won’t be taking up Rep. Alan Hays’ “academic freedom” bill relating to the origin of species. The legislation, which already has been heavily amended as it moves through the Senate, has yet to receive one hearing on the House side, and the Legislature wraps at the end of the month.
Don’t read much into this lack of action.
The council has one more meeting planned, and chairman Joe Pickens tells the Gradebook that the bill isn’t dead yet.
It’s not wrong to be saying imprecatory prayers against the House bill, is it? 😉
Considering the possible backlash against organized religion from all the legal drama in the event that this bill becomes law, I’d say go for it.

Who would you be saying your imprecatory prayer to?

HUH?
Hmm, wot now? Are we to be accused of starving them?
Well, we will just let natural selection take its course. Either they will move on, adapt, or die off. 😉
Ohhhhh natural selection eh? I guess that means since they deny it, it’ll take hold of ’em faster than they realize!
” Brother Maynard: Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, “Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy.” And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals … Now did the Lord say, “First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.” ” 🙂
