No, there wasn’t an actual debate, but a news article in AOL news, “Florida Education Bill Revives Evolution Debate“, does have dueling quotes from Florida Citizen for Science president Joe Wolf and the Discovery Institute’s Casey Luskin.
It’s interesting that in all of the stories I’ve seen so far no one from Florida has been quoted defending the antievolution side. The AOL story said this at the very end:
Sen. Wise did not return a request for comment today by AOL News.
Of course, the man is very busy since the state legislative session is now steaming full speed ahead. But where are all of Florida’s antievolution folks? I certainly don’t mind Florida Citizens for Science taking on this issue largely unopposed. However, I wonder if reporters aren’t seeking those other folks out, or if the other folks are refusing to return calls. It just feels weird that the usual blustery wind isn’t blowing.
Just wanted to say thank you guys (Joe Brandon and the rest) for all you do and all your hard work to defend science education. As a science teacher for 20 years I know it’s people like yourselfs who make a difference, Thanks again. Keep up the good work.
