Kentucky, one of the 26 lead state partners in the development of the NGSS is already facing strong opposition to their considered adoption of the new, National Science Standards. Opponents to the NGSS, ridiculed the new standards as “fascist and atheistic and said they promoted thinking that leads to genocide and murder” Genocide and murder, how on earth do people rationalize such comments?  Supporters said, “the education changes are vital if Kentucky is to keep pace with other states and allow students to prepare for college and STEM careers.
Wheather the Florida Board of Education propose the adoption of the NGSS, or replaces the current standards with those from another state, I’m certain they will receive the same type of opposition. I hope all of us have our logic and answers at the ready, we going to need them.
Good article. I thought the most reveling comment was by Robert Bevins, “he expects the board to send the standards forward without changes.” Regardless of public outcry or any questionable content the march to indoctrinate the next generation with a humanist world view must continue to move us to an atheistic totalitarian state.
The attack own those who can be called dissidents in the medical field could illustrate the subversion of real scientific advancement throughout our society. Where big money is involved, the answers you want will be the answers you’ll get. Forbes, “Fraud, plagiarism, cherry-picked results, poor or non-existent controls, confirmation bias, opaque, missing, or unavailable data, and stonewalling when questioned have gone from being rare to being everyday occurrences. ” http://www.forbes.com/sites/billfrezza/2013/01/09/a-barrage-of-legal-threats-shuts-down-whistleblower-site-science-fraud/
Chris,
So, can you explain to us how teaching science to children in a science classroom is an evil sin, as opposed to brainwashing children into becoming Science-Hating Bigots For Jesus like you?
Chris,
Having been involved with the NGSS in two states (Arizona and Florida) I’ve read and analyzed the NGSS, including all the previous draft versions.
While I don’t personally agree with some segments of the NGSS (along with experts in the education, assessment, and curriculum fields), I am confident that “fascismâ€, “atheismâ€, “socialismâ€, and “death camps†are NOT in the standards.
Jonathan,
I think you’re missing the big picture. I’m sure most everyone is familiar with the 45 communist goals read into the 1963 congressional record. The book titled “The Naked Communist” list the process to takeover America. It’s suppressing just how successful they’ve been in accomplishing their goals. Schools, churches, morality, and the Bible are just a part of what they believed held the country together. Replacing God with the state as God is a prerequisite for Communism. That’s happening. According Congressman Allen West around eighty members of the House are also members to the Communist Party.
Supposedly, the forty one member NGSS writing team was composed of thirty nine atheist or those sympathetic to atheist and two, who knows what. It’s difficult to believe that any curriculum would not be tainted with bias with these numbers. Everyone should be concerned with this group having the ability to promote a religious humanist agenda as science, unchecked. Apparently there are quite a few folks who think they are recognizing a travesty in progress.
Here’s an interesting quote. “Climate change is the totalitarian’s dream come true. It offers a rationale for government intrusion into every aspect of life for every person on Earth.â€
— E. Calvin Beisner, Ph.D., Cornwall Alliance
Here’s an interesting profile of the Cornwall Alliance from that most excellent climate website Climate Progress run by Joe Romm:
http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2010/06/19/206237/the-oily-operators-behind-the-religious-climate-change-disinformation-front-group-cornwall-alliance/
One of several money quotes: “…Cornwall’s website is registered with a special service to hide the identity of the person or group who purchased the domain address.”
cope
One might question the excellency of Climate Progress with its other interest promoted by progressive radicals, such a LGBT rights and Immigration reform. Topics which would have nothing to do with climate change, in my opinion.
Jonathan,
No doubt, such terms as death camps, fascism, atheism or socialism would not so bluntly appear.
A more dialectic approach would produce far better results. For instance. “We demand the extensive development of insurance for old age.”, “Our nation can achieve permanent health only from within on the basis of the principle: The common interest before self-interest.” Adolf Hitler. ” The only way to settle questions of an ideological nature or controversial issues among the people is by the method of discussion, or criticism, or persuasion and education, and not by the method of coercion or repression.” Mao Redoing
Oopps, wrong button. Mao Zedong
Chris,
I’m sorry to say that your implication, that the efforts to promote the NGSS are some kind on Communist/Atheist conspiracy, are so ludicrous that it really doesn’t warrant any kind of response from me.
Liar for Jesus Chris claims a conspiracy in the scientific community. Well Chris, here is a real conspiracy for you; it’s called the Wedge Document brought to you by the Idiots at the “The Discovery Instituteâ€.
Not only do they not deny the existence of the Wedge Document, they even republish it. They simply maintain that they are misunderstood. They don’t want to “overthrow†science. They simply want “to replace it with a science consonant with Christian and theistic convictions.â€
And what are their stated goals that they don’t deny, but claim were misunderstood? And how do they want to achieve those goals?
Direct quotes.
Major Christian denominations should defend traditional doctrine of creation and repudiate Darwinism.
Christians should increasingly recognize and repudiate naturalistic presuppositions.
Pressure public opinion polls on issues such as sexuality, abortion and belief in God.
The goal of the wedge strategy is to see intelligent design “permeate religious, cultural, moral and political life.” By accomplishing this ultimate goal as stated by the Center for Science and Culture (CSC) “Overthrow materialism and its damning cultural legacies” and reinstate the idea that humans are made in the image of God, thereby reforming American culture to reflect conservative Christian values. To defeat scientific materialism and its destructive moral, cultural and political legacies. To replace materialistic explanation with the theistic understanding that nature and human beings are created by God, ergo Christian theocracy.
Pulling conspiracy theories out of your ass serves only to show how disconnected with the real world your mindless religion makes you.
Jonathan,
My examples were just examples. In no way would I think the NGSS group would have evil intentions. Neither would I suspect, even as atheist, that this segment of educators would intentionally inspire someone with the charisma and resolve of Hitler or any other famous tyrant. I would imagine they are most likely well educated, honorable individuals with what they think are the best of intentions. But I do believe with the absence of a reason for morality, conviction and real purpose, the odds of being used as a pawn, promoting a convincing tale, are greatly increased. There is no indication that the nature of man is normally good; quite the contrary. Instilling an atheistic ideology through censorship, intimidation, legislation and force in the name of science education is producing wide scale ignorance of what made this country great and has sustained it. The KY opponents of the NGSS see danger, its supporters cannot. With the removal of the knowledge of God and replacing it with humanistic theory, the stage is being set for a very dangerous America. Hitler didn’t produce Germany, Germany produced Hitler.
“An atheist is someone who is certain that God does not exist, someone who has compelling evidence against the existence of God. I know of no such compelling evidence.” Carl Sagan
Ivorygirl
The Wedge Document is a public published strategy, not a conspiracy. Perhaps a visit to an exorcist might improve your comprehension level.
Chris,
I guess it doesn’t bother your religious values when you lie or quote mine for Jesus. All part of Gods work right?
You spouted Carl Sagan. “An atheist is someone who is certain that God does not exist, someone who has compelling evidence against the existence of God. I know of no such compelling evidence.†Well, let’s look at the rest of the quote.
“Because God can be relegated to remote times and places and to ultimate causes, we would have to know a great deal more about the universe than we do now to be sure that no such God exists. To be certain of the existence of God and to be certain of the nonexistence of God seem to me to be the confident extremes in a subject so riddled with doubt and uncertainty as to inspire very little confidence indeed.â€
Sagan was an agnostic who also said, “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence†Something you fail to comprehend.
I realize that your English comprehension is at a 2nd grade level, so let’s look at the definition of a conspiracy, “An agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive actâ€.
Whether published or not, the “Wedge Document†advocates the illegal act of promoting religion in public schools and endeavors to subvert science for purely religious ideologies. Remember Tammy Kitzmiller, et al. v. Dover Area School District, et al. and the outcome of that? None of the members of the Dover School Board who voted for the intelligent design policy were re-elected. So much for your ‘public outcry†Apparently the folks in Dover favored science over superstition.
Ivorygirl,
I’ve always thought of Sagan as a stand up guy. But the balance of his quote doesn’t change the beginning, it only reveals his limited view.
You’ve pointed out a great Sagan quote. “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidenceâ€
Why don’t you show where the “Wedge Document” advocates the illegal act of promoting religion in public schools.
Chris,
If the rest of Sagan’s quote doesn’t make a difference why did you leave it out? You of all people are in no position to accuse Carl Sagan of having a “limited view.â€
You, like all fundamentalists are their own worst enemies, and their own incessant compulsion to attack “materialism”, “atheism”, “Darwinism” and “naturalism”, gives the lie to their claims to be non-religious. The Discovery Institute admitted from the beginning in its own internal documents, a legal and political strategy to “wedge” their religious opinions into public schools in the guise of ID. They said, quoted direct from their documents “Get the Bible and the Book of Genesis out of the debate for nowâ€. Knowing that teaching religion in schools violates the 1st amendment and is ILLEGAL. Also (direct quote from the Wedge Document) “To simultaneously assault state boards of education, state and federal legislatures and on the print and broadcast media. To, through the Discovery Institute, employ a number of specific political strategies and tactics in the furtherance of our religious goals. These could range from attempts at the state level to undermine or remove altogether the presence of evolutionary theory from the public school classroom, to having the federal government mandate the teaching of intelligent design, to ‘stacking’ municipal, county and state school boards with ID proponentsâ€
It has the sole and only aim of advancing religion by attacking science’s presumed “atheism” and “materialism”. ID “theory” is nothing but an illegal advancement of religious beliefs, and IDers are flat-out lying to us when they claim otherwise. Fortunately the courts have concurred that ID is a religious belief and therefore illegal no matter how it’s presented. They are compulsive liars for Jesus just like you Chris. You should be ashamed.
Chris,
All my quotes came from Barbara Forrests book Creationism’s Trojan Horse and are direct from the Wedge Document. Here is a couple more.
‘The object is to convince people Darwinism is inherently atheistic,,thus shifting the debate from creationism vs evolution, to the existence of God vs the non – existence of God. From there people are introduced to the truth of the bible, then sin,and finally to Jesus”
‘We should avoid the arguments about how we can reconcile the bible with modern science, these issues can be better engaged when we can review science which is not distorted by naturalistic prejudice”
“We founded the I D movement to point towards a need for a designer, for a creator, God.
Ivorygirl,
I was wondering where you were getting these quotes. I’m not finding any of them in this ten page document. I this it? http://www.scribd.com/doc/20872000/The-Discovery-Institute-s-Wedge-Document
Ivorygirl,
Having received the 2009 American Humanist Association’s Humanist Pioneer Award, Humanism no doubt is her religion.
“The sciences are unified by their naturalistic methodology and empiricist epistemology, a unity … that can take us to the outer reaches of natural phenomena, but never beyond them. When we move beyond the epistemic boundaries that these faculties and rules set for us and the correspondingly limited metaphysical boundaries they enable us to define, we move from the relative epistemological safety of knowledge to the unmapped, supernatural territory of faith.” Barbra Forrest
Her metaphysical limited boundaries aim to keep the masses ignorant and not recognize those aspects of nature which might question evolution or those who have religion that thrives on it. Anti-science.
Chris,
As I have said numerous times in the past I have no intentions of doing your research for you. I will also ignore your inept remarks about how Humanism/Atheism is some form of religion and stick to the point. As a true scientist, Barbara Forrest’s metaphysical boundaries, are guided by her certitude on reason only and is not in any way like a religion. Religion involves an act of unproven faith, (belief in something for which there is no proof) which guide’s reason.
If you think Forrest’s opinion is biased on the issue, then let’s consider U.S. District Judge John E. Jones (a Conservative Christian appointed by George Bush) decision and comments from the Tammy Kitzmiller, et al. v. Dover Area School District trial.
He concluded that the six-week trial over the issue yielded “overwhelming evidence†establishing that intelligent design “is a religious view, a mere re-labeling of creationism, and not a scientific theory. Jones decried the “breathtaking inanity†of the Dover policy and accused several board members of lying to conceal their true motive, which he said was to promote their religion.†He said,†ID presents students with a religious alternative masquerading as a scientific theory, directs them to consult a creationist text as though it were a science resource and instructs students to forgo scientific inquiry in the public school classroom and instead to seek out religious instruction elsewhere.”
The judge also said: “It is ironic that several of these individuals, who so staunchly and proudly touted their religious convictions in public, would time and again lie to cover their tracks and disguise the real purpose behind the ID Policy.†Liars for Jesus just like you Chris who were “caught in the act.”
Still think that the Wedge Document doesn’t try to illegally promote religion????
Ivorygirl,
Your such an air head. I did the research, and even posted the Wedge Document which contained none of the quotes you provided. It looks like your a sucker.
Really Chris,
The following paragraphs are directly copied from the court’s official files, as the judge viewed the documents that were on the courtroom screen.
Evidence of ID’s overtly religious nature and aspirations is found in what is referred to as the VIEWED “Wedge Document.
The Wedge Document, developed by the Discovery Institute’s Center for Renewal of Science and Culture (hereinafter “CRSCâ€), represents from an institutional standpoint, the IDM’s [IDM = intelligent design movement] goals and objectives, much as writings from the Institute for Creation Research did for the earlier Creation-Science Movement, as discussed in McLean. [Transcript reference]; McLean, 529 F. Supp. at 1255.
The Wedge Document CLEARLY STATES in its three phase “Five Year Strategic Plan Summary†that the IDM’s goal is to replace science as currently practiced with “theistic and Christian science.†[Transcript reference].
As posited in the Wedge Document, the IDM’s “Governing Goals†are to “defeat scientific materialism and its destructive moral, cultural, and political legacies†and “to replace materialistic explanations with the theistic understanding that nature and human beings are created by God.†Id. at 4. The CSRC expressly announces, IN THE WEDGE DOCUMENT, a program of Christian apologetics to promote ID.The IDM accordingly seeks nothing less than a complete scientific revolution in which ID will supplant evolutionary theory with religious. [Reference to footnote 14.]
Caps mine.
So now the judge and the court are wrong and you are correct? You are so full of crap that if you had a enema all that would be left is your shoes.
Ivorygirl,
Amazing, finally you’ve gathered information from something other than humanist and atheist propaganda.
Let’s review some of your previous bogus claims about the ‘Wedge Document’.
#1 “Get the Bible and the Book of Genesis out of the debate for nowâ€. You said this was quoted direct from their documents. But gave no reference to where it came from, other than Humanist Barbra Forest. It’s not in the Wedge document.
#2 Knowing that teaching religion in schools violates the 1st amendment and is ILLEGAL. Stupid comment #2 suggest the Discovery Institute knew they were breaking the law. There is no law against teaching religion in a public school. “Knowledge about religions is not only characteristic of an educated person, but is also absolutely necessary for understanding and living in a world of diversity.†—National Council for the Social Studies
The first two clauses of the First Amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; These two clauses are called the “Religion Clauses” of the First Amendment. They have been interpreted to prohibit the establishment of a national religion by congress or the preference by the U.S. government of one religion over another.
The possibility that evidence could exist for a intelligent designer created outrage among humanist, atheist, communist and those who despise the Declaration of Independence, all of which, many believe, helped fuel the courts decision. The courts judgment was that ID was a religious doctrine held by specific religions, therefore violating the religion clauses.
#3Also (direct quote from the Wedge Document) “To simultaneously assault state boards of education, state and federal legislatures and on the print and broadcast media.
With the word “Also” we might assume that concoction #1 was also supposedly included in the Wedge Document. #3 is not listed in the Wedge Document. The source of this misrepresentation may have been harvested by Humanist Barbra Forest from Wikipedia.
The Wedge Document does have a “Five Year Strategic Plan Summaryâ€. A few highlights from the plan and phases.
“The center seeks nothing less than the overthrow of materialism and its cultural legacies” Darwin, Marx and Freud have portrayed humans as just animals. The cultural consequences of this triumph of materialism were devastating. Design theory promises to reverse the stifling dominance of the materialist world view, and to replace it with a science consistent with Christian and theistic convictions.
Phase 1 supporting vital writing and research at the sites most likely to crack the materialist edifice.
Phase11 build up a popular base of support among our natural constituency, namely, Christians. We will do this primarily through apologetics seminars. We intend these to encourage and equip believers with new scientific evidences that support the faith
Phase111 We will also pursue possible legal assistance in response to resistance to the integration of design theory into public school science curricula.
Nothing illegal here or non-scientific. The ‘Wedge Document’ appears to be a set of goals and just the fund raising plan it’s claimed to be, not the secret diabolical master plan of underworld conspirators.
The Discovery Institute’s response and document can be found here. http://www.discovery.org/f/349
Chris,
You can play the semantics game as much as you like, I will let others who read this site look at both of our posts and decide who has the best argument.
You conveniently side stepped Judge Jones comments and findings based on evidence presented from Both sides. He found overwhelming evidence that Creationism/ID is not science, it’s a religious belief. Members of the Dover school board knew this and lied. Sorry Chris, game over and so are my comments; I have to prepare for a new school year.
