The Gradebook says that FCAT science (and other) results will be out tomorrow. I assume the results will pop up here.

I wonder if Florida will once more be ranked near the very bottom. Along with Louisianna, South Carolina, Kansas, and the rest of the Bible Belt States of Scientific Ignorance. 🙁
I know someone in my household that better get “all 5’s” or else!
(jk) 🙂
The FCAT is ridiculous! Both my parents are teachers (my dad has taught 28 years in FL and my mom over 20, hence some bias) but still- the system is really screwy. I agree there needs to be some means of evaluation/testing of schools and students, but “this ain’t it!”

Kudos to your parents GE!
May His Noodlyness especially bless them both.

Can some one (smarter than me) figure them out and give us a run down?
I think that looking at statewide science scores, overall there has been improvement since 2003, but it still doesn’t look good.
The grade scale is 1-5 based on number of points the student earned on each section, and that number varies by subject and grade level (no wonder the FCAT is such a disaster!). For example, 11 grade science (in theory they have taken biology by then), the percentage of students earning a 3 or better was 33 in 2005 and this year it was 38.
*note* this how I interpreted the data, this is the info I used:

Aauurrgghh!
That’s INDIVIDUAL results.
Here is a place to go and look up individual district and school scores:

My school did very well 😉 and we are title one! SO I am crowing right now.
