==> Newsweek laments America’s fading influence as a leader in science.
==> Florida Citizens for Science’s own Joe Meert is quoted in Education Week concerning the computer game Spore.
==> Kim Kendall and Beverly Slough are names familiar to those of us who fought in defense of good science education earlier this year. They were vocal and very active in efforts to undermine the state’s new science standards. They recently made a new blip on the news radar for some school-related religious activities.
==> Award-winning New York Times journalist Amy Harmon had written a prominent piece about evolution in the classroom featuring Florida Citizens for Science board member David Campbell. The Times now is offering you a chance to ask Amy questions about her various articles that have covered the topic of the impact of science and technology on America life.
==> A “leading expert in science education” tries to argue that it’s okay to teach creationism in the science classroom. A great quote in this story in opposition to that idea is a keeper: “Creationism doesn’t challenge science, it denies it.” PZ Myers does a good job of slicing and dicing this article.
==> OK … creativity time. Use the words in the post title to create a headline. Here’s my try: “Amy denies blip had influence on pet spore selection.”
I wish I had a science or technology question to send Amy Harmon!
I loved her article on Mr. Campbell! 🙂
OK – here goes!
Mike O’Risal studies spores, polypores, and mores – while Amy’s small chore is to educate the blips that reside at the denial store! 😉
Hellooooo… echo…echo…!
I like it S.Scott! It has a catchy ring. (hooray for rhyming!)
Hey! 🙂 How have you been? Are you all moved out/in?
Hey! Good thank you! You? Hopefully you have successfully been dodging the hurricanes.
We made it in 2 days driving- left Thurs 8-14 and were in MI by 7pm 8-15!
Michigan weather is beautiful! But I don’t know how much longer I will be saying that- ha ha. Everyone says to me “you’re from FL? Just wait til it gets cold!”
Veeeerrryyy cold! But the nice thing about cold is that you can always put more clothes on! Unlike here – you ca’t always take more clothes off!
