If I understand the rules of the Florida legislature right, the deadline for filing new bills for the current session is past (noon on March 3). I searched high and low but couldn’t find a companion House bill to the antievolution bill filed in the Senate by Wise. Interesting.
I assume a bill can still manage to become law if it’s only filed in one chamber. I guess the Senate would have to approve it and ship it over to the House for consideration. Correct?
So, what odds do you give Wise’s bill?
If they are not spending every given second on the budget – they deserve to be fired … and I think/hope they know that.
Wise’s bill is probably at the bottom of a pile somewhere — but I might be overly optimistic.
Did you all see this?

270 teachers fired in Clay County.
“So, what odds do you give Wise’s bill?”
I wouldn’t bet a single quatloo on it. However, it’s peculiar that there have been no editorials around the state about this. Either no one cares, or they give Wise’s bill such a slim chance that it’s not worth the effort to write about it.
Nobody should underestimate Senator Wise’s skill and influence. If he decides he wants to make this bill a priority, we will have one heckuva fight on our hands. On the other hand, he may decide that his hands are full enough with the budget situation.
Since Senator Wise is chair of the K-12 Appropriations Committee, there will be folks who do not feel they can oppose him who might otherwise speak out.
