“Creationists have been doing scientific work for some time”

I’ll just let the story do all the talking: Permanent Exhibit At PHCC Library Unveiled

More than 100 guests gathered last week at the Raymond H. Center, M.D., Library on the campus of Trinity College for the unveiling of a new exhibit now on permanent display.

The C.S. Lewis Society Fossil Collection includes painstakingly accurate replicas of things like a triceratops horn and the foot bones of an allosaurus.

But wait, isn’t Trinity College a Christian school? Aren’t fossils and paleontology in general in direct opposition to the belief in biblical creationism or intelligent design?

In paleontology, the more that is learned, the greater the case that can be made for intelligent design, Woodward believes. “Science has a chance to surprise us.”

To help clarify this viewpoint, Woodward invited Dr. John Whitmore to speak at the unveiling. Whitmore is an associate professor of geology at Cedarville University, in Cedarville, Ohio, serves on the board of the Creation Research Science Education Foundation and is a member of the Creation Research Society and the Geological Society of America.

“I think creationists have been doing scientific work for some time,” Whitmore said. “Some of it hasn’t been very good, but there is really a new crop of creation scientists out there who are willing to look at things honestly and forthrightly.”

Same old creationist waffle that as been answered by science time after time after time after time!! I get so tired of this crap, tell a lie enough times and eventually some idiot will think it’s the truth.

“…creation scientists out there who are willing to look at things honestly and forthrightly.”

Wow! That’s some major cognative dissonance.

    1. Science, via overwhelming evidence for the ToE, did surprise creationists by demostrating creationists are dead wrong.

    2. When creation “scientists” look at things honestly and forthrightly they will reject creationism and accept evolution by natural selection. Until then, they will remain mendacious and do no science.

  3. Karl says:

I don’t think the creationists ever got over the first “surprise” that science revealed about their so-called theories…

    Wow!

    Kurt Wise Syndrome.

Scientism is on the way out guys.

  8. Wolfhound says:

Tell us, Josh, what “scientism” is, please. Never heard of such a term. What orifice did you pull it out of?

  9. Wolfhound says:

Ah! A word used by creationists to try to equate adherence to observable reality with a religious belief. Silly me.

    More wow……….

Josh, one more post like that and you’ll be consigned to the spam bucket.

  12. DaveC says:

Woodward got one thing right. Science DOES have a chance to surprise us.

Must reiterate to creationists: Before you can criticize science you must make at least a passing attempt to learn about what you are criticizing. Debate 101 says that criticizing an idea that you don’t understand will only lead to self-inflicted embarassment. Better to keep one’s mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. These people are starting to sound like a Texas Board of Education Chairman.
Life doesn’t begin in the Cambrian but roughly 3 billion years earlier. Only about a quarter of the known animal phyla make their initial appearance during the “explosion” and their are ample trace fossils before it. I would be very skeptical about pronouncements of anyone from an organization that begins all “investigations” knowing what the answer will be in advance.

  13. Josh says:

What are you afraid of “PatrickHenry” ?

  14. PatrickHenry says:

I’m afraid we won’t be seeing any more comments from Josh.
